A New Beginning

The end...

You see, there was nothing at the start.
Just me, you, and the moon, along with some trees around us and the ground we stood on, frozen earth covered in the brown, brittle leaves of late autumn.
That was where we started - not the tavern, no, even before that. After we first met, and also after we got to know each other, the real other one, but before it started.
Right at the beginning.
And now there are others.
You were taken away from me in my absence, and now, now that the earth burned by your flames is frozen once more, now that I saw my very own self mirrowed in the icy trunk of an unaturally black tree, burned to ashes mostly, saw it sneaking out of green, lush undergrow that wasn't even there, I couldn't help but to feel ... thirst. Thirst for revenge.
Just a few minutes, barely an hour, passed until our sides were turned, and you were the one trying to avenge me. Without hope to win a battle you still started it, for me. And then you died, just as I did.
Some parts of us are dead now, but enough to drive our very souls out of our bodies? I don't think so.
Yes, we died, and then... we lived. Again. Together.
The demon had no chance, we ripped it apart with ease, now that our powers were combined once more. The whole forest burned by now, partly even caused by the massive flames of your burning fur, feeded by your infinite wrath and hate for all the creatures above hell, and that was the time when the real hunt began.
Even though they drained your powers to the very end to summon such a powerful creature as the one we just killed, you still were as strong as before, even stronger now that those human parts didn't prevent you to unleash the full power of the ancient entity you subjected and absorbed. Now that we both were dead in normal terms we finally could concentrate on the real powers which slumbered hidden deeply in out minds, and the destruction was seemingly endless.
Soon, there was nothing again.
Nothing but a lone wolf and a silvery dragon.
Just me, you, and the moon, along with some dead trees and the ground we stood on, burned earth covered in black coal and white ashe.

I smiled.
If there was any description of a smiling dragon, I never have heard of it. Must have looked funny for you started giggling.
"It's so beautiful out here.", I said, looking at the bright and full moon.
"Besides the fact that we just burned a whole forest, killing hundrets of low demons and burned thousands of humans...", he growled, but as I looked at him questioning, I saw that he smiled as well. "... besides that, you are right."
It seemed like I simply should get used to the growling. He was bound to be a wolf now, after all.
Wrapping my feathery wing around him, I pulled him closer and curled to a colorful ball of scales and feathers, him in the middle of it.
"But.. what will we do now...? We can't simply mix with humans anymore, now that our human selfes are dead."
All he did in reply was snorting. "We'll figure it out."
"I guess."

... always is a new beginning

Years passed. We never were found by any humans, or if we were, we burned them to ashes.
It was a carefree and happy life, mostly, and yet not fulfilling. If not to say rather boring, compared to the years we were searching for a cure for my Wolf.
Back to those times there always was danger, and yet it felt good, the neverending tension. I always could have been murdered asleep by dragon hunters, searching for the mysterious and rare scales or feathers. Even though my identity never was revealed, there also was the probability of simply being killed for the massive amounts of gold - massive for poor thieves at least - I always carried with me.
I haven't seen demons for a while now aswell, not since I burned this world down with Lones help, and even though those always had rather repulive effects on me, I missed them.
All the action, all the fun one also could say, was gone by now. We hunted, ate, slept, and thats to it.
Not even the situation about him and me changed so far, I still craved for him and he still ignored my feelings.
Simply said, my life was boring.

A sudden beam of sunlight made me shiver and force my eyes open. The first thing I could make out in the light were the walls of the cavern we stayed in for the moment. Clear, transparent and cold water flowed out of a rift in one of those stony walls, shaping a puddle on the floor before pouring out into the open, where it reflected the bright, warm morning sunlight.
I yawned and arched my back, flexing my claws and wondering where the demonic wolve had gone. He wasn't here with me, so most likely he was out to hunt a nice breakfast.
Like every other morning since we arrived here to stay clear from any confrontations with humans I lapped at the clean cavern water, appeasing my thirst before sticking my head out of the earty cave entrance and letting out a massive yawn again.
Even though there was no action out here in the nature I must say that the sight was pretty impressive. After leaving the cave the water directly fell down and soon became dust, chased away by a soft and constant breeze. Just infron of me there was a vertical cliff, sloping several hundret meters before finally reaching the ground level, where a lush and green forest grew, fed with the buzzing of life and summer nature. The valley was about ten miles wide and long, and in it's middle one also could detect the shimmering surface of a large lake through the thick green, and at it's edges there were just as steep cliffs as here, shaping an almost perfect circle.
The whole place could be described in just one word: Beautiful.
It also reminded me of the old days, at the beginning of all this. I was happy we found such a great place to stay, because right from our cavern, where we curled together to keep each other warm in the nights or watched the moon, him howling at it when it was full, I simply could do one leap, stretch my wings and fly right across all of the valley, enjoying it's natural beauty and the everydays moring sun on my silver scales and rainbow colored feathers, feel the warmth in my stretching muscles, and watch carefully for prey to hunt down for breakfast. There was plenty of deer in the forest, along with boars and birds, which all taste really great once you get used to all the blood and bones. And even if that wasn't enough, there also was fish in the lake, unless in winter of course. It was easy to stay fed, and even though I had enough of relaxation I still enjoyed being here.

If I only knew that this was the place we burned down so many years ago.
But now, it's too late.
Too late.
Birthday present for my dear :iconsilvishinystar: <3 :D
Happy Birthday once more!

Yeeesh... after I was too lazy to read the previous chapters to go right into the plot again I simply started again with a new one (directly connected to the last one, especially the so-called myterious "negative" regardless).
Yes yes, it ain't much, but a start. After all, we all start at zero, right? ;3
